Lawrence G. Mccoy, Sr

Lawrence G. McCoy Sr, 81 years old, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Ebeid Hospice. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 22, 1935 to Clyde and Harriet McCoy. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a set-up man for Dana-Spicer Division for 30 years, retiring in 1990. After retirement, he started his own garage and worked until he was 71. After retirement, Lawrence and his wife traveled across country in their travel trailer for many years. He enjoyed golf until the age of 78. Lawrence was a sports enthusiast, including hunting, fishing, boating, bowling, golfing. He also enjoyed family camping vacations. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Harriet McCoy. Lawrence is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Gayle J. (Johnson) McCoy, loving children; Patricia (Lisa) McCoy, Debra Copsey, Shaun (Bruce) Ferguson, Lorrie (Scott) Smith, Lawrence (Diana) McCoy Jr. and niece, Dr. Jodi (Michael) Jenkins-Doerger. He is survived by his grandchildren; Brittany, Dane, Kelly, Dallas, Danielle, Cortney, Zachery, Carson, Walker, Christopher, Nicholas, Olivia, great grandchildren; Aliza, Aundrea, Kingston, and Kyrie and his brother, Clyde (Kathleen) McCoy. Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (at Alexis) (419-473-1301) on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Scripture service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 am at the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2240 Castlewood Dr until time of the Christian Burial Mass beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St Judes Children Memorial Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
