Lavern Masters

LaVern Masters, age 89 of Toledo, Ohio died Monday February 11th, at Heartland of Perrysburg Nursing Home. His only son, Dennis, was holding his hand as he peacefully went to sleep. He was born March 5th, 1923 in Samaria, Michigan to his parents, Rozella and William Masters. LaVern was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army as a tank instructor with the rank of Sergeant. He worked most of his adult life for The Toledo Scale, retiring in 1985. His wife of 58 years, Edith Masters, preceded him in death in 2006. He is survived by his only son, Dennis (Karen) Masters; granddaughters, Kamilyn (Robert) Smith and Karilane (Stan) King and great-grandchildren Sammy Smith and Aiden and Amelia King. Also, surviving is LaVerns younger brother Lloyd (Dotie) Masters. Family and friends may call at the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Road (at Alexis Road) on Friday February 15th from 10am til 12 noon. A short memorial service will be held at noon, with a private interment.
