Kathaleen "Kay" Fisher

Kathaleen “Kay” Fisher, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. She was 84 years old. Kay was born on February 1, 1940, in Jefferson, Ohio, to her loving parents, Harry Barnard and Catherine Durkovic. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter, laying the foundation for a life filled with compassion and generosity.

Kay exchanged vows with the love of her life, Frank Fisher, embarking on a remarkable journey together that spanned 64 beautiful years. Their marriage was a testament to love, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. For special meals, they enjoyed going out for lobster and steak.

Throughout her life, Kay brought joy and comfort to those around her as an office administrator and devoted homemaker. She dedicated herself to caring for others and nurturing her family and home with boundless love and grace.

Kay was a woman of many talents and passions. She possessed a remarkable singing voice, particularly enchanting when she sang gospel songs. Her melodic voice graced the weddings of several family members and echoed through the halls of church choirs and cantatas. In addition to her musical talents, Kay had a competitive spirit and loved engaging in games with family and friends. No one could match her prowess at Boggle. She also found joy in solving puzzles and enjoying rounds of golf. A devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Guardians, Kay spent many evenings cheering on her favorite teams from the comfort of her home. Sports brought her joy and excitement, and she cherished the moments spent watching games with loved ones.

Kay's faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found fulfillment in volunteering at her church, particularly with the youth. Her selfless spirit and servant attitude endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband, children, Duane (Tammi) Fisher, Tammy (Jaime) Mejia, John (Chris) Fisher, Judd (Gretchen) Fisher, grandchildren, Karri (Travis) Haber, Karli (Curtis) Carr, Marli (Josh) Melnek, Michael (Holly) Mejia, Lydia (Danny) Mitzner, John Jr. (Jennifer) Fisher, Daniel (Alexis) Fisher, Katie (Nathan) TenEyck, Jackson Fisher, Samantha Meiers, Aubrey (Zak) Sherman, Delaney Fisher, great-grandchildren, Trevor, Miley, Cecilia, Benjamin, Kelsey, Caroline, Kammie, Marriel, Drake, Kenzie, Alita, Wyatt, Charlotte, Nathan Jr., Athena, Sonny, and siblings, Harriet Mathieu, Carolyn Rice, and John Barnard. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Barnard, Harry Barnard, Richard Barnard, Robert Barnard, and sisters, Judy-Lynn Barnard, Naomi Welker, Ann Leonard, and Shirley Burns.

Friends and family may be received from 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Northwood Church of God, 3375 Curtice Road, Northwood, Ohio 43619. A funeral service performed by Pastor Brent will be held at the church at 1:00pm following visiting hours. A burial committal service will be performed at 12:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens of North Kingsville, Ohio. Memorial donations in Kay’s honor may be made to Northwood Church of God. Arrangements were made in the care of Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home – Walbridge Chapel.
