Karen Meeker Foster, age 78, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on August 6, 2026. She was preceded in death by her son, William James Lovell Jr; her parents, Royal and Helen Meeker, and her sisters, Darlene Strandberg and Ilene Seggie. She is survived by her partner, James Winhoven; her daughters, Susan Lovell and Wendy Foster; her grandchildren, Ethan Schilling and Zachary Rose, and her brothers, Duane and David Meeker; along with all their spouses and families, and many others that loved her.
Karen was born on October 8, 1947, in Southfield, Michigan, to Royal and Helen Meeker. She led a full life and will be remembered for her thrifting, bread and pickle making, sewing and crafts, cooking, and of course, her hats- of which she had many.
A deep heartfelt thank you to James Winhoven and family, and the nurses and aids at Ohioans Home Healthcare, for all their loving care.
A lunch gathering will be held for close family and friends on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 pm at Charlie’s Restaurant, 1631 Toll Gate Dr., Maumee, Ohio, in a small private room in the back. (Look for Tim Horton’s Sign).
While she didn’t want a service, we thought everyone could enjoy their own meals at a restaurant together and share stories in memory of her.
In lieu of flowers, bring your fondest oral or written memories to share with the family, and each other.
