Josiah Anthony Burwell was born to Asia Burwell on March 21, 2014. He was a vibrant, loving kid who was wonderfully raised by his great-grandmother, Margo Hyslop, and his great-grandfather, Larry Murrell.
Josiah loved attending school at Monroe County ISD; he loved his teachers and classmates. He enjoyed singing his favorite songs like “Wheels on the Bus” and “Old McDonald”. He especially enjoyed listening to gospel and rap music with his great-grandfather. His favorite meal was mashed potatoes and Pepsi. Although non-verbal, he had his own way of communicating and was understood by his loved ones. His laughter was contagious, and he enjoyed making people laugh by mocking his great-grandmother and acting silly.
Josiah is survived by his mother, great-grandparents, siblings, Jayvion and Jonae Chatman; grandmother, Barbara Burwell; grandfather, Roderick Burwell Sr.; aunt, Sasha Howard; uncles, Roderick Burwell Jr., Sean Howard, and Rashard Burwell; great-aunts, Regina (Briko) Butler, Melissa (Michael) Thomas, Kristina (Corey) Hyslop; and numerous cousins, including his cousin and best friend, Brylee Butler.
Josiah was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Kenneth Lee Hyslop.
