Joshua Sorrell

July 26, 1999 — June 9, 2016

Joshua Bradley Sorrell passed away in a tragic accident on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. He was born July 26, 1999 and is the son of Bradley and Kerri Sorrell. Having just completed his junior year at Whitmer High School, his time here on Earth came to a close. Family and friends, not ready to let him go, know that he has gone to a greater place to serve a greater purpose. Joshua truly knew how to be a friend, and would give the shirt off his back for you. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. His bright smile and laugh could always light up a room. From the time he was a little boy, his passion had been to help people. He attended Fairgreen, Elmhurst, and Monac, where he was a crossing guard. In high school he was a member of the Red Cross Club and helped organize blood drives, even donating his own blood. These life choices had inspired him to become a paramedic. A strong believer in faith and a true American at heart, he was a member of First Congregational Church and Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid sports fan and participated in team sports such as basketball, baseball, track, football, and soccer. He was also a musician of percussion, a terrific artist, and ladies man. He loved all genres of music, styling his hair, and going on adventures. He held various jobs over the years, most recently at McDonalds, working alongside many of his buddies from school. Some of the biggest joys of his life included spending time with family and friends, weekends at the family cottage, going to sport and music venues, and supporting many college and professional teams. He was thrilled about receiving his drivers license only the day before and drove himself to the last day of school. He made it clear that he wanted to be an Organ Donor, again, a sign of his desire to help others. He was very proud of his car, and began styling it before he even had his license. Anyone who knows Joshua, knows he was a big foody. Tall and trim, he could put away food like most teenage boys and you couldnt figure out where he put it all! Some favorites included, spaghetti, pizza, Sidelines foul balls, Hot Cheetos, Cheez-its, tacos, and of course just about any Mc Ds food. He was quite a bit of a choco-holic as well, (but no peanuts please!) His family knows what a special person he was, but the outpouring love and support from all of you at this unfortunate time has been a true tribute to our beautiful boy, great friend and gentleman. He is survived by his parents, sister Sarah, grandparents, Duane and Dorothy Sorrell and by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dog, Margo. He was preceded in death by Grandparents, Donald Fink and June Sorrell, and his Aunt Sherri Fink. Family and friends may visit on Friday, June 17th from 4:00-8:00 pm at H.H.
