John Wagner

John P. Wags Wagner, age 58, surrounded by his loving family, passed away on May 24 at St. Vincent Medical Center following a brief illness. John is the son of Robert and Josephine (Casey) Wagner. Born in Toledo, Ohio on St. Patricks Day, he celebrated and loved his Irish heritage. John is a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School and was a Journeyman Carpenter through the Northwest Ohio Carpenter Union #351.John had a love for life, his family, his country and all things Ohio State. John was an avid The Ohio State Football fan, card player, and gardener. He never missed his St. Patrick Day celebration, an Ohio State Football game or his annual garden planting. John loved the outdoors, his bonfires and reading about historical events. His talent of carpentry allowed him to create many beautiful structures and could fix and build anything.John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Stephen, David and Richard Wagner; sisters Linda DiCenzo and Margaret Wagner; brother-in-law Douglas Russell. John is survived by his son, Ian (Lauren) Wagner; his lady love and best friend Annette Poulson and her children CJ and Jackie Basilius; brothers Ron (Anita) Wagner and Kevin (Vicky) Wagner; sisters Mary (Ron) Warns, Nancy (Doug) Mansor, Judy Russell, Beth Wagner and Amy (Chad) Rupp. sisters-in-law Marilyn Wagner and Jennifer Wagner; brother-in-law Paul DiCenzo; Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.The family will receive friends from 11 am 12 pm on Tuesday, May 30 at Historic St. Patrick Cathedral 130 Avondale Ave, Toledo, OH. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 12 pm. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery 2224 Dorr St. Toledo, OH 43607 immediately following mass.In memory of John, please wear your favorite Ohio State fanfare.
