John Eugene Moore

April 17, 1939 - June 16, 2026

John Eugene Moore, 87, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion to family, and a life well lived.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, entering active duty in 1957. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life and reflected the dedication, strength, and character that defined him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Starker-Moore, who passed away in 2025. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Ula Mae Moore, Lawrence Moore, Hilda Moore, Clifford Moore, Catherine Moore, Colleen Moore, and Alfred Moore.

John was a stubborn, hardheaded, and loving father to Sheila (Will) Moore-Hiatt, John Moore, and Suzette Jallen. He was also a devoted stepfather to Dennis Starker and Todd (Carrie) Starker. While he was determined to do things his own way, and was never one to back down once his mind was made up, those qualities were matched only by the deep love he had for his family. While he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved, he treasured annoying them even more with a chuckle and a smile.

He was a proud grandfather to Crystal Miles, Steven Miles, Ashley, and Courtney, and a cherished great-grandfather to Amya, Steven, and Gabby. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor.

John also had a deep love for the open road. He was a true free spirit who never needed much of a plan, and certainly didn't feel obligated to tell anyone about it. Family members often learned he was traveling only after he had already crossed a few state lines. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip, an unexpected adventure, or simply the urge to see what was around the next bend, John was always ready to grab his keys and go. His independent nature, adventurous heart, and talent for disappearing on a whim became one of the many stories his family will laugh about and cherish forever.

John will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his service to his country, his adventurous spirit, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
