Jerry L. Sauter

Jerry L. Sauter, beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 12, 2023, at the age of 78. Born August 30, 1944, Jerry was a lifetime resident of Toledo.Jerry graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1962, and then went to serve our county during the Vietnam Era, in the United States Air Force assigned to the operations division. After his service to our country, he met, married, and shared a loving life with Sue Sauter, his wife of 48 years.After many years of professional salesmanship, Jerry retired in 2006 from Brinks Security.Jerry was an avid fan of local sports, but loved the Ohio State Football teams with great passion.Jerry is survived by his dear wife, Sue (Quimby/Stagner); children, Tammy Stagner of Seattle, Kathy White of Atlanta, Sandy Torres and Joe Stagner both of LaFayette, KY, and Brenda Welch of Toledo; many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Nyitrai, who he truly cherished.He was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Marie Sauter; daughter, Linda Cherry; sister, Donita Doni Owens; as well as his brother-in-law, Tom Owens; and his nephew, Steve Owens.Friends and family are welcome to gather from 2-8 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Blanchard Strabler Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH where military honors will take place at 7 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Judes Children Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
