Jeanne Marie Gibbs

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Jeanne “Jeannie” Marie Gibbs, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio, announces her passing. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Jeannie was a God-fearing woman of fierce and unshakable faith. She knew Scripture by heart and quoted God’s Word with a confidence and wisdom that guided and comforted those around her. Her faith was not only spoken—it was lived daily.

She was a gifted musician who filled rooms with beautiful music. She served as the drum major in high school and studied music in college. She also had a remarkable eye for beauty, especially in flowers and plants.

Jeannie grew up in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and attended Deshler High School and the University of North Alabama. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her love for her granddaughter, Mary, was pure, joyful, and unconditional.

Florida was Jeannie’s happy place—especially the beach. She also had a deep love for animals, particularly her cats, showing the same tenderness and compassion to them that she showed to people.

Jeannie is survived by her son, John Kurfess (Autumn); her beloved granddaughter, Mary; her sister, Jacque Stutts; her brother, John Gibbs (Sherry); and her nieces, Molli Kirby and Leigh Heifner.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Gibbs; her mother, Kathleen Mitchell Gibbs; her sister, Amy Jo Gibbs; her infant sister, Kathy Leigh Gibbs; and her brother-in-law, Richard Stutts, who is trusted to have welcomed her home with open arms.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Sunrise Funeral Home in Walbridge, Ohio.

Jeannie lived a life marked by faith, love, and devotion. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered
