Jean Marie Wise

Jean Marie Wise (Caughhorn), age 83, passed away peacefully in her home on January 21, 2022. She was born November 15, 1938 to the late Roy and Estelle Caughhorn. Their second child, she was followed seven minutes later by her identical twin Joyce. They became known as the Caughhorn twins. Jean lived her entire life in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Scott High School, representing the school as a majorette and continued that endeavor at the University of Toledo. She also did modeling and appeared in advertisements for well-known companies of the time like Page Dairy. At Scott she met the love of her life who she eventually married, Ken Wise. From that union came her proudest accomplishment, her children Ken, Greg, and Kim. A conversation never ended without her mentioning an achievement or saying a nice, complimentary thing about one of her kids or grandchildren. Throughout their upbringing, she was the glue. She was the best mother ever. She cherished her annual trip to Florida with Ken, going to Las Vegas to visit Greg and his family, and was blessed to have lived with Kim over the last eight months. Jean was a sweet soul. She loved the simple things like gardening, her landscape, and just taking care of things. She was incredibly proud of her home and her 56 years there. She loved telling stories about family and friends, whether it be her old high school friends she still kept in touch with or her bunco and bowling pals. She was a terrific dancer and loved to tell you so! She lived life on her own terms and had a journey full of love and laughter. Her little laugh, smile, and Jeanisms will be missed forever. Surviving are her sister Joyce; loving children Ken (Ann), Greg (Michelle), and Kim (Jim); grandchildren Kenny, Mitch, Tara, Ellen, Gregory, Zach, Matt, and Kami; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation for Jean will be held Thursday January 27, 2022 from 4-8 PM at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (3219 Tremainsville Rd. Toledo, OH 43613). funeral services and burial will private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Promedica Hospice and Trilby Methodist Church.
