Janet I Brunt

January 20, 1930 — April 4, 2021

Janet Iva (Hintz) Brunt 91, passed away April 4th, 2021. She was born on January 22,1930 to Cecil Lloyd Hintz and Sophia Lottie (Sosnowicz) Hintz. A graduate of Clay High School, she married Jack LeRoy Brunt, on September 4, 1949. Together, they designed and built their first home in Oregon, Ohio. Janet, was very handy with tools, and helped with many projects including building a cabin cruiser they named 'Ivy', for which Jack won an award from Popular Mechanics Magazine. They spent many summers with their young family boating, skiing, and swimming on Lake Erie. She and Jack were past members of the Bay View Yacht Club and Mudjaw Archery Club. In early years she loved square dancing, Bunco, and playing cards on Friday nights with her husband and parents. Janet was a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed teaching summer Bible school classes at First Saint Marks Lutheran Church in Oregon, Ohio, where her family were members for many years. Janet kept an immaculate home. She was a talented seamstress, often making matching Easter dresses for herself and her daughter. She liked to cook and bake, especially for the holidays. Her rhubarb custard pie (from Sophia's recipe box) was a family favorite! In 1963 the family moved to their small farm in Millbury, Ohio, where she canned homegrown fruits and vegetables. Canning, became a yearly summer task she enjoyed doing with the help of her mother, Sophia. She was known to help keep the crops free of weeds, spending hours in the fields with a hoe in hand. Janet supported her children's interest in horses by accompanying them to 4-H club meetings and the much anticipated county fairs. Janet is survived by her children: daughter, Kathy (Michael) Stoll; sons: Terry (Marylou Geeting) Brunt, Tim (Peggy) Brunt, Ty (Jamie) Brunt. Sister- in- law, Carol (Brunt) Blass, and Brother- In- Law, David Blass, of California. Grandchildren: Wendy Materni, Rhonda Miller, Brian Stoll, Lindsay Stoll Friedli, Alena Brunt, Ashleigh Brunt and Madison Brunt, along with 11 great grandchildren.
