Jane S. Doughty, 95, of Toledo passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Franciscan Care Center in Sylvania, OH. Jane was born on July 20, 1920 in Pittsburgh PA to Joseph L. and Phoebe (Bissell) Simpkiss. She graduated from Perrysville High School in Westview PA and went to work for the State of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. At a dance, she met her future husband, John J. Doughty, they were married for 54 years. He persuaded her to move to Toledo, where they raised their three children. She was the bookkeeper for J. Doughty & Sons Plumbing and Werners Insurance. She was a member of Pilgrim Church since 1952. She also belonged to the Childrens Conservation League. She loved bowling, dancing and working crossword puzzles. The family loved to spend their summer weekends at their cottage on Middle Bass Island. She was predeceased by her husband; her daughter, Patricia; her son, Thurman; her parents and six siblings. She is survived by her son, John 9Irene Martin) Doughty; son-in-law, Carl Michael; grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth and Janine Michael and Amy Doughty. Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Thursday from 2-8 PM, where Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Burial, Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
