James M Pruss

James M. (Jim) Pruss, 85 years old, passed away at home on Sunday, December 10, 2023.He was born to Francis Pruss and Helen (Smolka) Pruss on December 7, 1938. Jim was the 4th of 8 children.After graduating from Libbey High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and served from November 27, 1957 to November 22, 1961. Jim would always comment to me that he traveled around the world twice during his time of service. He was very proud to be a Vietnam Veteran.Jim worked in the trucking industry for 30 years before retiring in February of 2000.He played dartball in The Toledo Dartball league for nearly 40 years. Jims happy place though was the Cottage in Hillsdale, MI. He would arrive every Tuesday by 12 P.M. His favorite past time at the cottage was to mow grass and chat with the neighbors. He also golfed for about 15 years in Quincy, MI on Thursdays. He loved to fish; he was always catching the same fish every time. In the evenings, Jim would retreat to his woodworking shop and spend hours making all sorts of furniture and bird houses.Jim was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry, Frank Jr., Lenny, Ed (Magee) Tom, and brother-in-law, Ray Medera.He is survived by wife, Suzanne; sons, James, Michael (Patty), and Tim Pruss; daughter, Theresa Madrowski; stepchildren, David (Angie) Kowalski, Brian (Moriah) Mercereau, and Andrea (Shawn) Bockness; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie (Dave) Meyer and Janice (Ray, deceased) Medera; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.There will be a visitation on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M. in the Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home.
