Also known as Jim and Nappy, James, died at age 85, on May 21, 2026, at The Lakes of Monclova. As a lifelong Toledo, Ohio, native he was well known in the Reynolds Corners neighborhood. Jim was born on September 22, 1940, to John B. and Ida J. (Carnicom) Napierala. He worked first at Chase Bag and later at Doehler Jarvis, until retirement. Always full of energy and humor he often worked second jobs including construction and auto mechanics. Nappy was a life long member of the Centurions Motorcycle Association.
He was often seen riding in his self-fabricated green Volkswagen 3-Wheeler, or cruising in his many vans, Harleys, 3-Wheelers, Slingshots and other assorted wheels. He was a frequent participant in Volkswagen shows and races.
Jim was also known as Santa with his long white beard and hair. He was often hired for private parties and for "mall gigs". He loved children and his playful nature resonated with little ones. Every year, when granted vacation time from work, he would attend the Daytona motorcycle event and follow that with an annual visit to his children in the Fort Myers, Florida area, where they reside today.
Jim is survived by his children, Mark (Rita) Napierala, Laurie (Don) Summeralls, Tim Napierala, and Holly (John) Kreitzer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maranda, Tesla, Michael, Nick, Britney, and Courtney and six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at 1501 Whitehouse-Spencer Road, Swanton, Ohio, with a luncheon to follow.
