James Phillip "Jim" Martin Sr., age 61, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2024, at his home in Toledo, Ohio.Jim was the beloved owner of Superior Climate Control, an HVAC business he operated for over 30 years. His commitment to his customers was unwavering; he was known for his willingness to help people in need, regardless of the time, date, or severe weather conditions. Whether it was venturing out in a blizzard to assist an elderly client without heat or how he naturally went above and beyond for any customer, Jim always put others first.Outside of his professional life, Jim was an incredibly fun-loving and kind-hearted individual. He had a passion for music and photography, often attending concerts and music festivals where he forged close friendships with many bands. He also enjoyed nights out in big cities, embracing the energy and excitement of urban life.Above all, Jim will be remembered for his exceptional kindness and helpfulness. He was always ready to lend a hand, give the shirt off his back, or simply be there for someone in need. His generosity and compassion touched the lives of many.Jim is survived by his three children: Elizabeth and James (mother Patricia Sneed), and Alisa (mother Sandy Tippin). He was a proud grandfather to three granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother Tom Martin and nephew Thomas. Jim was proceeded by his father Stephen L. Laycock and mother Phyllis I. Martin.The Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home will be handling the preparation and cremation services. A celebration of life will be held at a future date to honor Jim's memory and the impact he had on so many lives. Details of this event will be announced once they are finalized.
