James Franklin Hall

Jun 12, 1944 — Jul 9, 2026

James "Jim" Franklin Hall, 82, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on July 9, 2026, at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Born on June 12, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, Jim lived a life defined by love, service, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Jim was preceded in death by the love of his life and beloved wife, Georgia Hall; his parents, Betty and Amos Hall, Sr.; and his infant brother, Robert Hall.

He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughters, Kim (Chris) Hall, Amy (Tim) Walker, and Jamie Hall. He was a proud and loving Paw Paw to his grandchildren, Autumn Rose (Noah) Baldwin and Timothy James Walker, and was blessed with five treasured great-grandsons: Foster, Harrison, Elliot, Gerard, and Davis. He is also survived by his siblings, Carol Shropshire, Roy (Cheryl) Hall, Amos (Cathy) Hall, Carl (Barbara) Hall, Ruth Yelanich, Patricia Hall, David Hall, William (Amy) Hall, and Mark (Vicki) Hall, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Stationed in Germany during his service, he often shared fond memories of his time overseas and remained proud of the opportunity to serve his country.

Upon returning home, Jim immediately put family first. He helped his mom raise his four youngest siblings, working tirelessly and selflessly to ensure they had everything they needed. That spirit of responsibility, generosity, and quiet sacrifice would define the rest of his life.

In 1969, while enjoying an evening at Marted's in Toledo, Jim met the woman who would become the love of his life, Georgia. He was immediately captivated by her and worked hard to win her heart. His persistence paid off, and in 1973 they were married, beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly five decades until Georgia's passing in 2022. Their love was one of unwavering commitment, friendship, and devotion.

Jim believed in honest work and providing for his family. After returning from military service, he worked at Home Furniture before the company moved its operations to Chicago. He then worked as a security guard in Toledo and Walbridge before accepting the position from which he would eventually retire after 30 years of dedicated service at Pre-Finished Metals/Walbridge Coatings. There, he worked in Shipping & Receiving and Building Maintenance, earning the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic and dependability.

Above all else, Jim was a family man. Being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather brought him his greatest joy. He loved spending time with those he loved most, talking with family on the phone, watching sports-especially professional football-keeping up with the daily news and weather, and teasing his grandchildren and great-grandsons with his playful sense of humor. His humor, stubborness, loving heart, shit grin, and unwavering devotion to his family created countless cherished memories that those who loved him will hold close forever.

To his daughters, Jim was simply Dad-the man who loved them unconditionally from the day they were born. No matter how old they became, they were always his little girls. His love, guidance, encouragement, and quiet strength shaped their lives in immeasurable ways, and the lessons he taught through his example will continue to live on for generations.

Jim's greatest legacy is not found in the years he lived, but in the family, he loved so fiercely and the lives he touched through his kindness and steadfast devotion. Though our hearts are broken, we are profoundly grateful for the 82 years we were blessed to share with him. We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with Georgia, the love of his life, and now rests in the peace of his Lord.

Jim's Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (https://www.google.com/maps/search/701+N.+Main+Street,+Walbridge,+Ohio+43465?entry=gmail&source=g), with a memorial service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to the Friends of Field's Edge Community Care Pantry. The Field's Edge Community Care Pantry provides free food and hygiene products to anyone in need in Lake Township and within a seven-mile radius. The pantry is stocked through donations and operated out of the home of Jim's daughter, Amy Jo.

This pantry was something Jim watched grow from an idea into a reality, and he always took great joy in seeing Amy leave to deliver food orders to people in need. We, Jim's daughters, know in our hearts that he would want memorial donations to support this pantry because it reflects the kindness and generosity that he and Georgia showed to so many throughout their lives. They fed anyone who was hungry, bought groceries for families in need, and always gave from the heart. That spirit of compassion has been instilled in Jim's daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and continues to live on through them today. To make a donation in Jim's honor, please contact Amy Jo at (419) 304-9288.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jim's physicians, the staff of DaVita Dialysis, and the doctors and nurses at Mercy St. Charles Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness they showed him throughout his journey.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our Dad, Paw Paw and Brother.
