James R. Colbert

.James Rocky Colbert, 64, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly February 20, 2017 at his home. James was born October 14, 1952 to Willie Colbert and Robbie K. Harvey in Toledo. James worked as a social worker at the Friendly Center for more than 20 years. He was also a devout member and active volunteer of Salem Lutheran Church. He volunteered at Hawkins Elementary school, was a member of the PTO board, and coached basketball and baseball. His life's passion was service to his community. James was devoted to his grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. His grandchildren were his whole world, constantly bringing him joy. He stood for kindness, compassion, and helping those in need. In memory, be kind, share the love, and teach PEACE. James is survived by his mother, Robbie; the love of his life, Christy; children, Lee (Lorie), Chad (April), Cathy (Steve), Nicole (Jeff); siblings, Robert, Robbin, Charlotte, Sandra, Leslie; grandchildren, Steven, Jaxon, Wyatt; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie; his brothers, Sidney, Steve, and William. A rock, a river, a tree. That's all of us. Services will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, 1125 N. Huron St., Toledo, OH 43604 on Monday, February 27, 2017 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please give service or donations to our community.
