Jack E. Ulery

Jack E. Ulery, 97 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 15th at the Bowling Green Manor in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Samuel and Marie (Doerr) Ulery. He was a 1937 Alumnus of the Vocational Trade School where he studied Electrical training. He completed Electrical Apprentice School in 1940 from Local #8 of the IBEW and worked for A. Bentley & Sons for most of his 42 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a veteran of the Navy in World War II Construction Battalion in the Pacific Theater, and a member of the Arthur Dally Post #334 of the American Legion, and a member Local #8s retirement group where he served as Treasurer from 1983 to 2015. He attended St. Johns Lutheran Church on South Erie Street, Toledo where he transferred in 1940 when he married the love of his life, Lillian (Falkenberg) Ulery. He continued his membership even though he couldnt attend the services. He was committed to Union activities and was a former member of the Local 8s officers, serving as Recording and Financial Secretary in 1953 through 1959 when he stepped down to be become a Supervisor of the Electrical installations. Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Lennard and daughter-in-law, Laura Ulery, grandchildren; Russell (Anita) Bless, Jaylene (Antonio) Scarlato, Gretchen (Pete) Mattimore, Sam (Kris) Ulery, Anthony (Wendy) Ulery, Anne (Adam) Carron, Rebecca Yinger and David Ulery, DO.; 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Lillian, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph and Noel; sister, Doris Mehring; son, Sam and son-in-law, Jim Lennard. A Special Thank You to the nurses and staff at the Bowling Green Manor for the loving care they gave Dad. We would also like to thank our 2 cousins, Larry (Joyce) Ulery and Bill Falkenberg, that took Dad to his retirement meetings, movies, doctor appointments, lunches and their visits which meant so much to him. Visitation will be held at Witzler- Shank (Trilby) Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Road, Toledo, Ohio (419-473-1301) on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m., with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. and burial directly after at the Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania Ohio. Luncheon location will be at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the following: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; The Ohio Northwest Autism Society; Smile Train or to the donors choice.
