Iona Mabel Bach

Iona Mabel Bach , 95 years old, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022 with family in attendance. She was born in Warren, Pennsylvania to George and Mabel Hartson (Zerbey) on April 18, 1927. Born into a family of 17, 9 children survived into adulthood and Iona was the last survivor. After her fathers death and her mothers illness, Iona spent much of her childhood in the Miami Childrens Home on River Road in Toledo.Iona married Julius Bach on July 1, 1946. In 1947, they had their first child Deidra, and their second child, Charles, in 1949. Iona took great care of her new family with love, grace and humor. As new generations came she was the glue that kept the ever-expanding family together.She loved camping and going to bluegrass festivals with her husband Julius, and even learned to play the dobro guitar.Iona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Deidra Schmitz; son Charles (Bonnie) Bach.Grandchildren Eric (Connie) Schmitz, and Michael Schmitz, Tylie (Rene`), Jeff (Wendy) Bach and David Bach; nine Great-Grandchildren, and five Great-Great-Grandchildren.Friends and family may visit at Blanchard Strabler Funeral Home, (3219Tremainsville Road @ Alexis Toledo Ohio 419-269-1111, on Tuesday, December 13, from 10:00 am to Noon with services starting at noon and internment to follow.Donations can be made to Promedica Skilled Nursing unit with special thanks to all the staff of the Skilled Nursing and Hospice Units for all their care and support of Iona.
