Herbert Fred Melroy

Herbert Fred Melroy, age 69, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014. He was born in Tiffin, Ohio on August 4, 1945 to John and Laura Melroy. Fred was in the tire industry for 51 years, most recently at Belle Tire. He enjoyed going to the casino and playing euchre. Fred loved spending time with his grandchildren, who called him Papa. He was known as Fast Freddie by his co-workers and customers. He was a member of Sylvania United Church of Christ. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey Melroy, grandson, David Joseph, and brother, John Melroy. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Melroy, sons, Todd (Michelle) Melroy, Greg (Jennifer) Melroy, Christopher Melroy, Timothy (Bethany) Melroy, grandchildren, Rebecca (Curtis) Amborski, Deborah (Nick) Cisneros, Donna (Nick) Wingate, Nicole (Jeff) Melroy, Gregory Melroy, Austyn Melroy, Alivia Melroy, Megan Melroy, Aaron Melroy, great grandchildren, Alison, Dayton, Karleigh, Nicholas, Ryan, Vincent, Troy, Alexander, Mason , Lucy and Colton. Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301). Visitation will continue on Monday at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie Rd., Sylvania from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am.
