Harold (Howie) Beck transitioned peacefully at the age of 80 with his loving wife, Nancy by his side. Harold was born May 5, 1941 to Gilbert and Florence (Rayle) Beck. He was a caring father to children, Tim Beck, Joni (Scott) Nofzinger and Jerry Beck. He was the proud grandfather of Connor, Courtney, Zach and Spencer and great-grandfather to his little Evelyn. He was brother to Jim, Robert, Bud, Gene, Carol, Arlene and Cheryl. He was special to many other relatives and friends, including Rhonda Martin. He also loved his canine friends, Marnie and Gemma.Harold was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 2004, which he blames on the use of Round-Up. It is his sincere wish that people find safer alternatives to glyphosates. Harold lived in Petersburg, MI for most of his life. Although he lived in Florida and Indiana for a few years after his retirement, he returned to this area in 2016, as he had always considered this to be his home. He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1960 and was on the basketball team, proudly wearing # 38. His favorite car was his 1932 Ford 5-window coupe. He loved Walt Disney World and visited many times with family throughout the years. Harold worked at GM from 1960 until his retirement in 1987. He continued to work at golf courses and various residential landscaping jobs to keep his young self busy. His love was the game of golf. He had a famed hole-in-one at Whiteford Golf Course using his 6 iron on a par 3 at 185 yards. He also placed 1st in a senior open in Indiana. Harold was always there to help people improve their golf games. Another major hobby of his was landscaping and his beautiful pepper plants.A private family celebration of his life will be held.We will say goodbye to a soul that brought joy to many and gave the life lesson of never giving up, no matter how hard it gets.Go rest high on the mountain, your work on Earth is done.May you rest in His loving paradise.
