Gloria Jean (Ressler) Schlegel, age 75, of Grand Rapids, OH went on to heaven on Saturday April 15, 2017. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was born to Paul Ressler Mary Eddinger on January 25, 1935. Gloria grew up in Berks County, Reading PA. and was an active member of Luther league at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Reading where she met her husband, Samuel. They married on Feb. 4, 1961. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Samuel, brothers; Barry and Dennis, and sister, Paulette, her son, Michael (Pam), son, Peter (Marie) and daughter, Samantha Silber (Josh), 7 grandchildren, Tara, Peter Jr., Bobbi Jo, James, Mia, Drew and Trudy and 4 great-grandchildren, Haeley, Dylan, Sophia and Easton. She will be remembered as a bus driver, den mother, restaurant manager and dog lover. She worked for Sky Bank for 8 years as an Escrow Specialist. She was vice president of the Longfellow Elementary PTA and involved in Longfellow bowling. She was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of Augsburg Lutheran church in Toledo. She enjoyed reading and watching movies, the older and more obscure, the better. She spent her retirement years in Grand Rapids, OH. Gloria and Sam sponsored a bench that overlooks the river in Grand Rapids. We will miss her love, humor and candidness. Special thanks to the staff at St. Lukes Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the attention and care she was given.
