Gloria Jacobs

Gloria E. (Griggs) Jacobs, age 90, went to be with her Saviour on October 22, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born January 17, 1925 to Walter and Bessie (Capron) Griggs in Toledo, Ohio. Gloria graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1944. She married Charles T. Jacobs on June 21, 1947. They recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Gloria retired from Mather Corporate office in 1985 as a data entry operator. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years and a member of Ft. Industry Chapter EOS #391 and also of GM Local #14 retiree chapter. Down through the years, she volunteered at church. She arranged all the day trips for Local 14 retirees chapter, after her retirement. Gloria was a travel agent for Eagle Rock Tours, Newark, Ohio which had extended tours over the United States, Canada and Europe. She was preceded in death by, her beloved husband, Charles Jacobs, parents, brothers, Richard Griggs and Gordon Griggs. Gloria is survived by her loving children, Barbara Jacobs-Vajen and James (Tara) Jacobs, grandchildren, Jessica Jacobs, Clinton Jacobs, Lauren Vajen and Krysta (Kevin) Heitzman, her beloved three great grandsons, Colton, Jayden and most recently, Korvin along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, October 26 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd with Eastern Star services beginning at 7:00 pm Visitation will continue on Tuesday at 10:00 am until time of funeral service beginning at 10:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St, Toledo Ohio 43613 with Pastor Alan Swartz officiating. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Toledo Humane Society, 1920 Indianwood Circle, Maumee or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E River Rd, Perrysburg, Ohio.
