Gilberto Martinez

Gilbert S. Martinez Jr.s spirit passed from this earth to rest with the Lord on March 28 th 2017. He was 68 years old and lived in Toledo, OH with his loving wife of 37 years, Joan R. Martinez who survived him. Gilbert had a good life filled with love and family. He filled the role of our Macho Patriarch by living his life full of passion, devotion, a little stubbornness, a huge helping of love mixed in with his own bit of cantankerousness. He spent much of time on his hobbies including: skydiving, boating, fishing, photography and reading. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert S. Martinez, Sr., mother Helena Martinez and brother, Rudy Martinez. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Joan Martinez and 5 sons, Christopher (Donna) Martinez, Brian (Sherri) Martinez, Jay (Sabrina) Martinez, Kent Murnen and Scott Murnen and 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his siblings, John Martinez, Irene Martinez, Antonio (Theresa) Martinez, Elodia Price Rebecca (Spencer) Blunt. Friends and family may visit H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) on Sunday, April 2 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with Scripture Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 3 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2240 Castlewood from 9:00 am until time of Mass beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
