Gertrude “Trudy” Christensen, 95, returned to her heavenly home on February 9, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1929, in Holland, MI.
Trudy met Chuck on her 19th birthday at the famous Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. She completed her education at Stautzenberger College in 1965. The family ran a fruit stand for many years in Point Place and she worked as a bookkeeper. During her retirement in Leesburg, she spent many years enjoying the Florida sun and tending to her flowers, including her favorite roses. She was extremely artistic and crafty. She enjoyed beading, making jewelry, and painting her husband’s intricate carvings. She returned to Toledo after her husband passed to spend time with her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and always had a book or her Kindle by her side. Her soft voice, warm hugs, and genuine laugh will be missed.
She is survived by her children, Russell Christensen and Sharon (James) Yates; siblings Ann and Bill (Carol); grandchildren Benjamin (Linda), Jennifer (John), and Erik (Heather); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Elijah, and Micah, and daughter-in-law, Dawn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck”; parents, John and Gertrude; and siblings, Henrietta, Henry, Tom, Arnold, and Theodore.
Her family will receive guests to celebrate her life on Sunday, February 16 at 3:30 PM.
Her service will be held at Church 321 at 5845 Centennial Rd, Sylvania, OH 43560. In her memory, please consider a gift to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
