Gerald Jerry Minnich

Gerald G. Jerry Minnich, age 81, of Sylvania Twp., passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Promedica Toledo Hospital. He valiantly fought Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia for the last 10 months. He was born to John and Mary (Garrett) Minnich in Camden, NJ, but moved to Hornell, NY at a young age and graduated from Hornell High. He received a scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1958. He later received an Executive MBA from The University of Michigan. He worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass for 37 years as a Senior Project Manager where he oversaw many international building projects. Jerry was an avid golfer and was a member of Highland Meadows Golf Club for many years. He was a member of the Toledo Elks and enjoyed many years of extensive travel with his wife Judy, whom he was married to for 58 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Minnich. Left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Judith; sons, Stephen (Kathy) of Charlotte, NC, Brian (Melissa) of Austin, TX and Andrew (Martha) of Columbus, OH; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many cherished friends. The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 10 AM-Noon at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) where a Memorial Service will begin at 1130 AM.
