George F. Mays, Jr.

George F. Mays, Jr., age 61 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born August 28, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to George and Athersteen (Hicks) Mays. George was a family man and avid sports fan. One of his favorite teams was Los Angeles Lakers. He was an Avid boxer and enjoyed lifting weights. He attended Spring School Elementary, Woodward High school, and later received his GED. George was a salesman; opening and running pawnshops. He even dabbled in real-estate for quite a few years. He was known for many things but one tasked he took pride in was up lifting his family, friends, and any ear that listened through his motivational speeches. Left to cherish Georges memory are his children, Demetria Mays, George (Alaysha) Mays III, Cetron (LaJuana) Mays, Ricco Mays, Domonique Carpenter, Demetrius Mays, Arianna Mays, Destiny Walace and Jerrod Simmons; 16 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; father, George F. Mays, Sr.; siblings, Karen Mays, John Mays, Ronald Mays, Lisa Mays, Kimora Knight, and Brittany Mays; special friend, Jacquelyn Perry; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Preceding George in death is his mother, Athersteen (Hicks) Mays. The family would like to thank Saint Annes Hospital and everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Friends will be received Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 1163 West Sylvania Avenue Toledo, Ohio 43612. Funeral Services will be Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with internment to follow at Forrest Cemetery.
