Gary Leroy Billings

Gary L. Billings passed in Sanford, North Carolina on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 9, 1947 to the late Frank and Mary (Ross) Billings.

Gary is survived by his children, Tammy Hiyane and Frank Billings; grandchildren Taishi, Takeshi, Jake, Vincent, and Hannah; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Frank D. Billings and wife Elaine, Jane Portentoso, Donna Testa, Bonnie Felt, Joanne Anderson and husband Kenneth, and Asunda Sprunk.

Gary is at peace now. He will unite with his little girl, Deanna Marie Billings, who passed at just five weeks old in 1977.

Gary lived most of his life in Swanton, Ohio. He graduated from Rogers High School, Class of 1966. Gary was also a very devoted sportsman and outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. While on a fishing trip in Canada, Gary suffered a brain aneurysm at the age of 47. This left him disabled and took away his ability to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing. Gary prevailed though. Despite the challenges, he had a hunger for life, which was fed by his inner compassion for those he loved.

Gary had a great attitude, complemented by his never-ending laughter and smiles. It is with a very heavy heart that his family and his friends bereave the loss of Gary.
