Freida "Connie" Shaw

With deepest sorrow, we share with you the death on March 16, 2025 of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and GiGi, Freida “Connie” Shaw. She passed away at Toledo Hospital surrounded by family members.

Connie was born on September 14, 1927 in Paulding, OH to parents Fredrick and Daisy Funk. On April 12, 1947, she married the love of her life, Charles C. Shaw Sr. They resided in Walbridge, OH where they raised their three children. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother, a grandson and her beloved husband.

Connie was a member and served as an officer of the VFW Auxillary #9963. Connie dedicated her life to her family, taking immense joy in attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she spent her life nurturing and supporting her family with unwavering love and always worrying about others before herself.

Connie is survived by her two sons, Charles Shaw Jr and Craig (Debbie) Shaw and her daughter Dawn (Rick) Hartman; her six grandchildren: Andy (Raquel) Shaw, Stephanie Shaw, Adam (Julia) Hartman, Lauren (Jason) Rismiller, Carla (Ben) Meyer, and Rachel Shaw as well as her 11 great-grandchildren. Her legacy of warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all of them.

A private service will be held on March 26, 2025 with immediate family—Interment at Lake Township Cemetery in Walbridge, OH. Memorials can be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
