Fredric Dodd Kirkby

Fredric Dodd “Fritz” Kirkby age 91 of Toledo passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at his home in Otterbein Sunset House.  He was born August 23, 1930 in Toledo to Fredric R. and Virginia (Dodd) Kirkby.  Fritz married the former Carolyn Reed in Lindsey, Ohio on February 22, 1958.  He was a 1949 graduate of Sylvania Burnham High School and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.  Fritz retired in 1995 as a salesman for Smith Dairy.  His favorite hobby was landscaping where his talent showed as an excellent landscaper.  Fritz was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.  He and his late wife Carolyn, enjoyed working for 15 years at the Schottenstein Arena at OSU with many great friends.

Fritz was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; parents; and brother, Peter.  He is survived by children, Cynthia (Gary) Hadsell, Tamara (David) Insull, Paul Kirkby; grandchildren, Alyson Insull, Michelle Hadsell, Samantha Insull, Lauren Hadsell, Andrew Insull and Jessica Davies; great grandchild, Emma Bennett; and sister Sarah Klem.

Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, Holland Springfield Chapel, 7438 Airport Hwy., Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879) on Saturday February 26 from noon until the time of the memorial service at 2 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein Sunset House.  Condolences may be shared at walker funeralhomes.com
