Frank proudly served in the United States Army and served his country with honor and integrity. Frank loved his time traveling abroad with his unit. He cultivated many lifelong friendships.
Frank was a meat cutter for the Kroger Company for over twenty years. He enjoyed working the harvest at Hunt's and Hirzel farms every season for many years. Finally, he settled into his true calling which was home remodeling and repair along with painting which he did until he finally retired in his early 80's. He was NOT afraid to work!
While raising their children, Frank and Harriet would often be found together fishing, gardening, swimming and too many road trips to count as they explored the beauty of this great country. They entertained often - the adults would be in the dining room playing cards while the kids played outside until dark and then they would get popcorn and coke and settle in watching tv and enjoying a sleepover. Once the kids were teenagers Frank and Harriet hit the local country dance hall.
Frank loved comedy and man, oh man, did he laugh EVERY time he watched Blazing Saddles. He was definitely the life of the party - always telling jokes - but most importantly he always made sure to engage with each and every person present. He never met a stranger. He was an avid fisherman and his favorite fish to both catch and eat was Northern Pike - we always knew it was Pike for dinner because there would be plates of bread throughout the table in case he missed a bone - it was rare, but it did happen. He taught his children and many others how to fish and that teaching included respecting nature and the gift that this earth is to us all.
Frank loved family - get togethers where we played poker after eating was his favorite. When uncle Fred Mattison was still alive he loved getting together with him, Yvonne and Bob and Betty Jean and playing Pinochle. He never gave unsolicited advice and never judged others, no matter their choice in a situation. He was always there to listen and if you asked for advice you would receive it, and it was always good.
His life is a testament to the value of family and unconditional love. His gentle spirit, love, steady presence, kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. If you ever received a hug from him it was not rushed, it was genuine and full of the love in his heart. Whether he was cleaning up at the poker table - he won a lot, telling jokes or sharing stories of the past, he made every moment memorable.
Where there should be a hole in our heart from his passing there will be, instead, many memories to draw from. From those memories his legacy will continue as we all share his life for generations to come. I promise you, there will NEVER be another like him.
His life on this earth may have come to an end, but his memory lives on and HE LIVES ON IN HEAVEN!
Saturday May 2, 2026 Frank life will be honored exactly the way it should be. With love.
