Frank Avalos

Frank Avalos, age 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away with his loving family by his side at Toledo Hospital on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was born in Toledo on January 14, 1929 to Louis and Alexandria Avalos. Frank was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a millwright with AP Parts for 36 years and as a supervisor in maintenance with Unicast for 5 years before retiring in 1991. His passions included scuba diving and auto racing and at one time he was a stock car driver. Frank was on the board of directors with AP Federal Credit Union for 35 years and served as past president. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Avalos and grandson, Carl Burling in 2012. Frank is survived by his children, Christina Shepherd, Frances Avalos, Margaret (Carl) Burling, Annette (Greg) Carter, Charlotte (Michael) Rozich, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his brother, Alex (Olga) Avalos and sister, Irene Click. Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (at Alexis) 419-473-1301 on Monday, August 15 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 am (meet at church) at Regina Coeli Church, 530 Regina Parkway, Toledo. Entombment with military honors will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
