Floyd W. Berlin, born February 22,1923 in Shippenville, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Josephine, in 2004, as well as his two sons, F Robert, in 2010 and William in 2013. Floyd grew up during the depression on a farm in Shippenville, Pa. After his high school graduation he set out on his own as a telegraph linesman. During WWII he served in a similar capacity laying telephone and telegraph communication lines in advance of Allied Troop movements. He earned the European African Middle East Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars for service in 5 military campaigns. He married Josephine on February 2, 1946. They began their married life in Westfield, N.Y. where he worked for the Chautauqua and Erie Telephone Company for 25 years. Together they raised their 5 children. They moved to Ravena, N.Y. when he was named as General Manager of the State Telephone Company in Coxsackie, NY He is survived by his 3 daughters; Susan (Kevin) Farrell, Mary (Stephen) Malia and Joanne (Alan) Hackman as well as 11 grandchildren; Christian Farrell, Katherine (Matthew) Cutler, Aileen (Thomas) Pierce, Timothy Farrell, Geoffrey (Laura) Malia, Thomas Malia, David Malia, Mariah Malia, Michael Hackman, Joseph (Shruti) Berlin and Sean Berlin. His great grandchildren include Charlotte Farrell, Jack Cutler, Logan Cutler, Benjamin Malia and Lucy Malia. There will be a funeral mass at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church in Triangle, VA. On March 4, 2016 at 11 am. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetary, Quantico, VA with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the American Cancer Society and Double ARC of Northwest Ohio.
