Florence Lapoint

Florence LaPoint, age 97 of Toledo Ohio, passed away, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Cecil, Ohio to Thomas and Mittie (Breece) Shaw on April 24, 1916. She grew up in Cecil with 11 brothers and sister (who all predeceased her). Florence came to Toledo to finish her education and met and married her husband, Ervin D. LaPoint . They were married for 78 years when he passed away in 2011. Florence was employed for Gladieux Service at Dana Corporation as a bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in 1970. She loved to cook, play cards, visit with family and friends and visit casinos in Las Vegas and more recently in Toledo. She loved to sew and make clothes for Barbie dolls for her granddaughters and great- granddaughters and children of friends and family. Florence is survived by her daughter, Deniece W. Kevern, grandchildren, Edward L. (Lisa) Kevern Jr., Katherine S Horn, David L. (Jane) Kevern, Cynthia L. (Donald) Hood and John R. (Cynthia) Kevern. She is also survived by, 17 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Kevern, age 8 in 1971 and her son-in-law, Edward L. Kevern Sr. in 1980. Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp, 3219 Tremainsville Rd. Toledo from 4:00pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, September 22. Visitation will continue on Monday at St Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd from 9:00 am following with Mass of the Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at St Joseph Cemetery, Ravine Rd, Sylvania, Ohio. Memorial contribution may be given to St Clement Catholic Church or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
