Ethel Jane (Thome) EatonEthel Jane Eaton passed away March 23, 2024 at 96 years old. She was born to Walter and Mary (Drerup) Thome on April 10, 1927 in Toledo Ohio. Known as Jane to her family and friends, she was one of six children who grew up on Castlewood Drive. Jane attended Blessed Sacrament grade school, and Notre Dame Academy where she graduated in 1945. After graduation, she worked for Prudential Insurance Company where she met Rose Eaton, who introduced Jane to her brother Bob.Bob and Jane married on April 21, 1951 at Blessed Sacrament Church. They raise 8 children together; enjoying gatherings with family and friends, traveling, and swimming at Bowman pool. Jane was involved with church festivals, St. Agnes school board, and starting the Sunday school for children. She loved working at the voting polls as she could connect with friends and neighbors.After raising her family, Jane worked for the Hallmark store at Miracle Mile, the Lion Store at Westgate, and then Dillards at the Franklin Park Mall, until she retired at 70 years old. She enjoyed swimming, lunching with friends and family, crossword puzzles, walking, genealogy, and reading biographies of notable people. She loved to travel and took many trips; the big one was London England!She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob, her parents, brothers, Richard, Robert, and Walter Thome, brotherin-law; Bernie Shiple, and niece, Laurie Shiple. Jane is survived by brother, William ( Joyce ) Thome, sister, Mary Ann (Bill) Roe, sister-in-laws, Eileen Thome, Marie Thome, and many nieces and nephews.Survived by her children: Janice (Hak) Dickenson; Barbara (Christopher) Sanford: Sharon L. Hall; Christine (Christopher) Velker: Robert (Pamela) Eaton: Patricia (John) Sy; William J. Eaton; and Carolyn (Lawson Stone) Eaton. Fifteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Family and friends will be received for visitation on April 1,2024 at 9:30 am with 10:30 funeral Mass to follow at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 4555 North Haven Avenue, Toledo, with burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Toledo.
