Ervin David La Point

Ervin Erv LaPoint, age 102, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Toledo Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Petersburg, Michigan on December 9, 1909 to Cletus and Hazel (Beauch) La Point. Erv was employed at Dana Corp. as a set-up man for more than 35 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of St Clement Catholic Church for over 50 years and served as an usher for 25 years. Erv met and married Florence Shaw and they celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wayne and Grant La Point, son-in-law, Edward Kevern Sr. and grandson, Daniel Kevern. Erv is survived by his devoted wife, Florence La Point, their daughter, Deniece Kevern; grandchildren, Edward (Lisa) Kevern, Kathryn Horn, David (Jane) Kevern, Cynthia (Donald) Hood, and John (Cynthia) Kevern, 13 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. Visitation for Erv will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (at Alexis) on Wednesday, December 14 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville from 9:00 am until 10:00 am with Mass of the Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 am.
