Ernesto Vargas, Sr.

Ernesto Vargas, Sr., 80 of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at UTMC. He was born February 26, 1941 to Cipriano and Gregoria (Contreras) Vargas in Luling, Texas. He married Martha Guardiola and they together raised five children.He worked at Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed his morning coffee and reading the Blade at Frischs. He loved listening to Tejano music and playing his accordion. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and was fascinated over his twin great-grandsons. Ernesto was a loving and caring father and grandpa. He will be missed by all.Ernesto is survived by his wife Martha Vargas, his children Olivia Vargas-Mata, Ernesto Jr. (Kelly), Ruben, Hector and (Mary) Vargas, and Nora (Juan) Castor, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandsons; siblings Miguel (Ofelia) Vargas Sr. and Candelaria Rocha; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Pedro, Francisco Sr., Aurelio, Carmen, and Raymond Vargas Sr.The family will receive guests Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (3219 Tremainsville Rd.
