Eric Neal Zeiger, 4/12/1962 - 12/5/2024
Eric N. Zeiger passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in St. Vincent Mercy hospital at the age of 62, in the presence of his loving family.
Eric was born on April 12, 1962, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, the fourth son of five children to the union of Harry B. and Margaret (Meg) D. Zeiger, both of whom preceded him in death. His beloved older brother and best friend, Mark Zeiger also preceded him in 1996, and we are rejoicing that they have been reunited in heaven!
He is survived by his brothers Bruce (Debbie) Zeiger, Kurt (Carrie) Zeiger, his younger sister, Alison (Zeiger) Tansey, and his sister-in-law, Emily Zeiger. Uncle E was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his nieces & nephews; Emilie & Daniel (Leah) Zeiger; Scott, Stuart & Peter Zeiger; Jordan (Kelly) Tansey, Adam (Bree) Tansey, Maggie Tansey & Jack Tansey; great nephews Connor Tansey, Leo Tansey and great niece, Shea Tansey, as well as many cousins and countless friends, including his brother from another mother, Jon Christian.
Eric’s family moved to Toledo in 1971 and he spent the remainder of his life there where he made countless friends from all walks of life. Eric was a 1980 graduate of Whitmer High School, where he was a member of the golf team, the National Honor Society, and probably the class clown! He was proud to be a member of the state champion golf team during his senior year, and golf continued to be a passion throughout his life. He finally achieved a hole in one in 2020! He was a huge fan of Detroit sports teams, University of Alabama football, and the Washington Redskins! Bowling was also a passion in his younger days, although he never achieved a perfect game, unfortunately.
Eric graduated from the University of Toledo with a BA in Finance and then began a successful sales career. His outgoing personality and quick wit made him the perfect salesman and he made many lifelong friendships through his various positions in several companies. While working fulltime in sales, he chose to fulfill a personal goal for himself, by attending night school at the University of Toledo College of Law. He graduated with his Juris Doctor in December 1990, but delayed practicing law for the next several years.
As an attorney, Eric was passionate about assisting anyone in need, and many of his clients became personal friends. He will be remembered for his wise counsel and his willingness to drop everything to help anyone in need. We will always love him and miss his generous spirit and dry wit – his passing has left a huge void in our lives. Per Eric’s wishes there will be no services.
