Emeterio Reyes

November 28, 1939 – May 28, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emeterio

(Emet) Reyes, 85, on May 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at

the Lakes of Monclova in Maumee, OH. Emeterio was a devoted husband, a

cherished father, a beloved grandfather, and a proud

great-grandfather. He was also a loyal friend and a respected member

of his community.

Born on November 28, 1939, in Crystal City, TX, and raised in Uvalde,

TX, Emeterio was the son of Jose Reyes and Guadalupe Posada. He grew

up in a household filled with love and strong family bonds.

Emeterio lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and hard work.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army,

and later became an active and proud member of the American Legion

serving in the Honor Guard, where he built lasting friendships and

contributed to the support of fellow veterans.

He devoted many years to Hirzel Canning Company, where his

contributions and work ethic earned the admiration and respect of his

colleagues and community.

He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his wife, Maria (who

just recently celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary), his passion

for the Cleveland Indians, his joy in completing puzzles, and his love

for Mexican music and dancing. He found happiness in the rhythm of

life, whether enjoying a favorite tune, sharing a dance, or solving a

challenging puzzle. He brought joy to those around him with his warm

heart, kind spirit, and deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

His devotion to his family and steadfast faith were constants that

inspired everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria, and his children: Emeterio

Reyes, Jr. (Donna), Esteban Reyes (Kelly), Elisa Reyes, and Daniel

Reyes. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren,

and many other extended family members.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Robert Shank Chapel at Sunrise

Cremations and Funerals (701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, OH 43465) from

4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the same location

on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00am, with burial to follow immediately

at Lake Township Cemetery in Walbridge, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the

Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association in honor of

Emeterio’s memory.
