Elizabeth A. Engel, Age 95, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully in Amberwood Manor on Tuesday, Aug 21, 2012 following a period of declining Health.A daughter of the late Arthur E. and Ida (Bird) Wain, Elizabeth was born at Toledo, Ohio on August 7, 1917.During her younger years, she was a devoted caregiver to her family. Later in life, Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, making bead jewelry and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.She is survived by a daughter, Shirley DeFrancesco of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Dora) Wain, and three sisters, Louella Lindner, Betty Bodine and Irene (John) Bogi all of Maybee, Michigan.Four grandsons, Edward (Cynthia) DeWitt of Wauseon, Ohio, Kevin (Debra) DeWitt of Arcadia, Florida, James (April) DeWitt of North Port, Florida, and Brian Engel of Ohio as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Engel; her son, Arthur A. Engel, three brothers, Arthur Wain, Charles Wain, and Richard Wain, a sister, Gloria Jean Wain; two grandsons, William DeWitt and Michael DeWitt; and a granddaughter, Caylene DeWitt. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 5:00pm 8:00pm in the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home 3219 Tremainsville Rd (at Alexis) 419-473-1301 in Toledo. A funeral procession will form from the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, on Saturday morning, August 25, 2012 beginning at 10:15 AM.
