Elizabeth "Beth" (Glickert) Baker, age 82, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, with her family by her side.
Beth was born on October 6, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frederick and Irene (Streicher) Glickert. She was a 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School. On June 22, 1963, she married the love of her life, Robert Baker, who preceded her in death. Together, Beth and Bob built a life centered on faith, family, and community as they lovingly raised their two children, Michael and Kristin.
Beth devoted many years to being a homemaker before beginning her career as a playground monitor at Walbridge Elementary School. She later joined the Lake Local Schools Athletic Department, where she faithfully served as a ticket seller for middle school and high school athletic events for more than 45 years. To generations of students, athletes, parents, and fans, Beth became one of the welcoming faces of Lake Schools. Her warm smile, friendly conversations, and genuine kindness made everyone feel at home the moment they walked through the doors.
Although she answered to many names throughout her life, her most cherished titles were "Grandma" to her beloved grandchildren-Zachary, Benjamin, Katherine, Rebekah, and Abigail-and "Boogie" to her treasured great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kelly, and Archie. These three little ones brought her immeasurable joy over the past five years. One of Beth's favorite activities was attending Story Time at the Walbridge Library with her "three greats," creating memories they will carry with them forever.
A lifelong woman of faith, Beth was a devoted member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. She was also active in the Walbridge Mother's Club and the Lake Athletic Boosters while her children were growing up. Always willing to serve her community, Beth spent several years as a poll worker for the Wood County Board of Elections.
Beth was an enthusiastic sports fan who proudly supported the Lake Flyers and cheered on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes every chance she had. She also loved playing slot machines at casinos across the country, especially during the winters she spent traveling to Arizona with Bob.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Jeffry) Swartz; daughter-in-law, Sherry Baker; sister-in-law, Janice Baker; grandchildren Zachary Baker, Benjamin (Miranda) Swartz, Katherine (Brandon) Payeff, Rebekah Swartz (Brandon Westrick), and Abigail (Sam) Masri; and great-grandchildren Elijah and Kelly Swartz and Archie Payeff.
In addition to her beloved husband, Robert, Beth was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her parents, Frederick and Irene Glickert; her sister, Judy; and her parents-in-law, Joseph and Mary Baker.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Genoa Retirement Village, Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care, comfort, and dignity they provided during Beth's final journey.
In keeping with Beth's fun-loving spirit and lifelong devotion to her favorite teams, family and friends attending visitation are encouraged to wear their favorite Lake Flyers or Ohio State Buckeyes attire.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Sunrise Cremations and Funerals, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio 43465 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner Street, Walbridge at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The family will receive guests after 9:30 a.m. Father Eric Schild will officiate. Private interment will take place at Lake Township Cemetery.
Those wishing to express their sympathy are invited to make memorial contributions to the Lake Athletic Boosters, St. Jerome Catholic Church, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Beth's life was one of quiet service, unwavering love, and genuine kindness. Whether cheering on the Flyers, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, greeting friends at Lake Schools, or simply offering a warm smile to someone in need, she made those around her feel seen and valued. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.
