Duane Ebright

Duane Howard Ebright, beloved father, husband, brother, 85, died Friday, July 28, 2023, at Otterbein Perrysburg Senior Life Neighborhood with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer and a longer struggle with Alzheimers disease. He was born February 6, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, to Elmer Franklin (Frank) and Erma Anna Christina (Metzger) Ebright. He married Valean (Joyce) Austin on June 6, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio and later divorced but remained close until her death. Duane was a 1956 graduate of Macomber High School and a lifelong member of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Toledo. After graduating high school, he worked as a mechanic before joining the United States Army. He later served in the 180th Wing of the Air National Guard. Following his honorable discharge, Duane worked as a machinist for DeVilbiss Company for 24 years. He enjoyed road trips and camping with his family, square dancing, and bowling with several local leagues.Duane is survived by his children, Gordon (Anne) Ebright, Saint Augustine, FL; Susan Ebright, Toledo; Howard Greg Ebright and Isabel Amaya, Imperial Beach, CA; grandchildren, Tiffanny (Troy) Forgette; Ryan (Callie) Ebright; Andrew (Maia) Ebright; Ami Ebright; Onastasia Ebright; Joshua Saltzman; Kristle Ebright; Sam Saltzman; Jazz Ebright; and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Katherine Everhardt, Elaine Damschroder, Norma Corbin, Carol Starkloff and Karl Ebright; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; siblings Henrietta Jerndt, Frank Ebright, Jr., Galen Ebright, and Lloyd Ebright.The family will receive friends at the Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville, Toledo, OH on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church, 5859 Elmer Dr, Toledo, with additional visitation beginning at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
