Dorothy Mae Thomas

Dorothy Mae Thomas age 84, of Toledo, Ohio died Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Toledo on August 24, 1928 to Otto and Helen Rodemark. Dorothy was very adventurous and enjoyed being part of everything she could. She was a member of Friendship Park, several camping clubs, and at one time a Square dancing club. Dorothy loved being with her family and was always there to support her grandchildren during their activities. She loved to go camping especially at Harrison Lake State Park, playing cards and walking over the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day with her family. Dorothy also enjoyed collecting shells and spoons. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin E. Thomas; great-great granddaughter, Kira Thomas. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Melvin (Sue) and Danny (Mary Beth) Thomas; daughter, Sandra (Marvin) Zielinski; grandchildren, Don (Anita), Jason, Angie (Brian), Jamie (Danielle), Julie (Ryan), Katie (Mike) and Jodi (Justin); 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation for Dorothy will be at H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) on Thursday, November 8 from 2:00 pm-8:00 pm and Friday, November 9 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm.
