Dorothy M Robertson

Dorothy M. Leidy Robertson Dorothy went to be with the Lord on May10, 2021. She was born on December 11, 1926 in Clay Center, Ohio, the daughter of Howard and Mildred (Diebert) Duty. She went to Thorpe grade school until sixth grade, then to Crane Creek for two years, Genoa High School for three years, and a fourth year of high school and graduated from Olney. After high school she worked at Save Electric making light bulbs. She met a friend, Irvin R. Leidy . He was in World War II. She wrote him while he was in service. When he came home, they dated for about 18 months and in December they were engaged. On February 28, 1948, they were married. He passed away of February 14, 1984. He was a good husband and father. They had 3 boys and 1 girl. She did not work until the children were in school. She worked 9 years at Lake Local Schools, Almroth Fuel Oil for 5 years, and National family Opinion for 13 years. They liked to take their children and grandchildren camping. They also liked to Western Square Dance, where they belonged to several dance clubs. They also went with Jack May’s group to Hawaii to dance with their club. She decorated many birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. She liked all crafts, crochet, sewing, and making square dance clothes for she and her husband. She liked to golf, bowl, play volleyball, and cards. She married Isaiah Ray Robertson on November 30, 1991. Ray was a great person and a lot of fun. She retired from National Family Opinion and went to Florida for the winters. It was great, Ray was such a friendly person and everyone in the park soon knew him. They went on many cruises while in Florida. Ray passed away on April 25, 2002 in Florida. Ray has two daughters and a son. Surviving are Dorothy’s children, Rita (Les) Rogers, Rick (Fay) Leidy, Douglas (Kathy) Leidy, the late Irvin (Judy) Leidy, sister, Ethel (William) Hughes, Step-brothers Donald Griffin, Sister-in-law Ann, Step-Children daughter-in law Nancy Robertson, Linda (Charles) Johnson, Michele (Curtis) Harvey, eleven grandchildren, fourteen grandchildren, and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death are her parents, grandparents, brother Aaron Duty, Step-Mother Eva Griffith, Step Son Robert (Randy) Robertson, brother James Griffith, brother-in-law Harold Robertson, step-sister Virginia Robertson, Step-Sister-in Law Mary Griffith. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 from 2-8 PM where funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Lake Twp. Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial United Church of Christ 1301 Starr Ave. Toledo, Ohio 43605.
