November 10, 1943 — February 17, 2023

Donald Wcislek ObituaryOrnery Don was born to Chester and Martha (Kwasniak) Wcislek on November 10, 1943. He attended St. Agnes Elementary School and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1961. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962 and was stationed at several bases including Goose Bay, Nova Scotia. Upon his honorable discharge, he delivered mail for the US Postal Service until earning his degree from Rets Electronics School of Toledo. He worked as a purchasing manager for a small electronics company and retired from K&M Tires. Don married the girl next door, Catherine (Ellis) on April 15, 1967. They had three sons and were married for 45 years until her death in 2013.Don spent almost his entire adult life in the local racing scene. Working with his best friend, Ron Miller, Don was able to showcase his skills bending sheet metal on countless cars and trucks raced in the area bearing the logo Bodies by Ornery Don. The track is where you could find him any given weekend watching cars race and telling jokes and stories.Don got involved with Boy Scouts with his sons, but he stayed with Troop 117 for over 20 years. He was known for counseling merit badges, discussing the details of how to best win a sledge race, or guiding a Scout towards their Eagle rank, and his pranks on the other leaders and Scouts as well as his stories and jokes were always important parts of camping weekends and meetings.Don played Euchre several nights a week with his sons and friends at local bars and was then invited to play in several weekly games around town. He loved the challenge of learning how others played and how to best compete with them, and his ability to talk to others and entertain made him beloved by many.Don is survived by his three sons, Benjamin (Anne), Nicholas (Carrie), and Christoper; grandchildren, Ryan, Colin, Athena-Rayne, Eli, and Phoenix; brother, Jan (Rochelle); and sister, Pauline Rohs. He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Martha, the love of his life, Catherine, and granddaughter, Talia Rose. His family would like to thank the staff at Ebeid Hospice Care and the many friends and family who came to see him in the last few weeks. Don truly appreciated sharing one more story and joke with all of you.
