Donald F. Mulligan

Donald F. Mulligan, age 83, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He spent his early years in Brooklyn and northeastern Pennsylvania before joining the US Marine Corp. for ten years. Upon discharge from the Marine Corp., he and Marian lived in Pennsylvania for a short time before moving to Rochester, New York where he went to college and started his career in Information Systems. He worked for the City of Rochester and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rochester (now Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield). He relocated to Toledo, Ohio in 1984 to continue his career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio (now Medical Mutual of Ohio). Before retiring, he also worked for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and Business Systems Corporation of America. Don enjoyed working around the home on projects large and small. He enjoyed reading science fiction, spy novels and mysteries. He loved playing cards especially rummy with family in his later years. Don was a 32 year member of Hope Lutheran Church. Left to cherish Dons memory are his wife of 55 years, Marian; children Susan (Scott) Gould, Kathleen Diebold, and Patrick (Nataliya) Mulligan; grandchildren, William Diebold, Jessica Diebold and Caitlin Gould; and brother, Raymond Mulligan. Preceding Don in death are his parents and brother, Gerald Mulligan. The family would like to thank the Toledo Hospital Emergency Room doctors and nursing staff, the Promedica Transport Team and the Ebeid Hospice Residence nursing staff for their care during his final days. Family will be receiving guests, Friday, August 24, 2018 at Witzler-Shank Trilby, 3219 Tremainsville Road, Toledo, Ohio 43613 (419-473-1303) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with military honors at 6:00. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Road, Toledo, Ohio 43606 (419-536-8383) with luncheon following the service. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, to Promedica Ebeid Hospice Residence or Disabled American Veterans organization. SEMPER FI
