Debra Renee Newsome

Debra “Deb” Renee Newsome was born September 2, 1962, in Drew, Mississippi and passed peacefully November 20, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of Helen Newsome and Lewis Parsons.

Deb, as she was affectionately called migrated to Chicago at an early age and eventually settled in Toledo, Ohio where despite the challenges becoming a young mother, obtained her G.E.D. and graduated college.

A devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a kindhearted human being, Deb was loved and cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her favorite music was old school R&B and early Hip Hop. She was funny and charismatic and loved a good joke.

To know her was to love her as she had the ability to brighten any mood and bring smiles to sad faces. Her smile and laughter were contagious, and her witty humor will definitely be missed by all.

Debra was proceeded in death by her mother Helen Morris Newsome and son Marcell Davair Newsome. She leaves to cherish her memory her life partner Scott “Skip” Townsend; her three sons Chester Newsome, Shanah Newsome, and Michael Newsome; her beloved grandchildren Dominique, Darius, Chester Jr., Marcell, Trenton, Naudia, Joshua, Raelle, Monique, Shanah Jr., Chase, Olivia, Shania, Neveah, and Adarius; some very special aunts and uncles and cousins and friends whom she considered her brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received at The Ray Neville Chapel at Sunrise Life Celebrations, Holland (7438 Airport Hwy) Monday December 2, 2024. Visitation will be from 12pm to 2 pm with services starting at 2pm.
