Deborah L. Sandusky, 64, of Delta, Ohio, passed away on June 6, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. Debbie was born on August 24, 1957 to Marlene (Belman-Nyitray) and James F. Hottenstein in Toledo, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father, James F. Hottenstein, and her siblings, James R. Hottenstein, Tyson Hottenstein, and Ryonn Hottenstein.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Tillman T. (Bud) Sandusky, her mother, Marlene, her children Shayne, Darnelle, Dusten, Ashley, Chase, and her many grandchildren.
Deb has been involved in the Worker’s Compensation field since 1984. She began her career as a Technical Writer and then worked as a Legal Assistant for a large area law firm in their litigation department. From that point, she began her career representing employers in their worker’s compensation needs. She began working for this organization as a Hearing Representative, taking hearings before the Industrial Commission of Ohio on behalf of her client base. This quickly grew into a Client Services and Claims Management role for the company. She has held various positions throughout her career including Director of Claims, Vice President, and President.
Deb holds an Associate’s Degree in Legal Assisting from the University of Toledo. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree from that same institution in Human Resource Management with a minor in Finance. She is an active member of the Ohio Self- Insurer’s Association (OSIA), Northwest Ohio Self-Insurer’s Association (NWOSIA) wherein she has been the Treasurer since 2011. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Northwest Ohio Human Resource Association (NOHRA).
Debbie passed peacefully with the love of her life by her side, holding her hand. She loved to be surrounded by the love and laughter of her family and friends. She loved to read, admire and drive classic cars, and enjoyed hand quilting. She was highly respected and loved by her worker’s compensation clients. She loved all of her animals, spending time in nature within the beautiful flower gardens around her home, watching the birds, and listening to her wind chimes.
Visitation will be held at Holland-Springfield-Walker Funeral Home on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 1:00-4:00pm with a memorial service at 4:00pm.
