David Gorny

David Gorny. Born April 13, 1949 to Robert & Bernardine Gorny, passed away October 5, 2022 at St. Lukes Hospital. He served in the USMC 1968-1970, during which he did one tour with 1st Tanks in de nang, Vietnam as a wire chief and climbed telephone poles. Dave took guitar lessons from Elmer Sanders and took 1st place in the International Music Contest 3 years in a row at ages 12, 13 and 14. Dave worked for Chrysler for 35 years and 8 months, retiring in 2006. He was a life member of Lou Diamond MCL, VFW 2984, Northwood, DAV # 27, a charter member of Vietnam Veterans of America 1126, Wapakoneta as well as a member of Maumee American Legion Post 320, Amvets Post 1991, Defiance, Rossford FOE 2322, Sylvania Moose Lodge1579 Valued Veterans and Moose Legion; he was also a past Commander at Toledo Police American Legion Post 512. Dave donated at least 1500 stuffed animals to Toys for Tots. Dave and Carole enjoyed many road trips in their 2012 Challenger SRT-8. They also enjoyed vacationing in southern Ohio at Lake Logan and Buckeye Lake.He is survived by his son David Jr. (Kimberly); Dave Jr.s mother, Charlene Dixon; grandchildren, Dylan, Marissa and Jack Gorny; brothers Chester (Cheryl) Gorny and Raymond (Dorene) Gorny; brother-in-law, Thomas (Jamie) Salyers. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Bernardine ; brother, Michael and wife Carole.Friends will be received on Tuesday October 18th from 10 AM until the time of Services at Noon at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (3219 Tremainesville at Alexis, 419-269-1111) Dave and Carole will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
